Last night's Miss Universe pageant turned out to be really bad for the red, white and blue. That's because our representative Miss USA Rachel Smith slipped and fell on her butt during the evening gown competition. She made a quick recovery though -- standing back up, doing a couple of turns and then flashing her pearly whites for the camera. It was so fake. You know she just wanted to run off stage crying the moment she hit the ground. That would have been even funnier video, but what we have will do.
As if the slip wasn't bad enough, Smith was at one point booed by the largely Mexican audience during the competition. The jeering was over the U.S. policy on illegal immigration which many Mexicans view as unfriendly and unfair. But despite all the missteps, Miss USA still managed to come in fifth place.
Oh, so you want to know who won the crown? A raven-haired Miss Japan took the title of Miss Universe. Riyo Mori becomes only the second woman from her country to do so. Mori is only 20 years old and says she wants to some day open up an internatonal dance studio in Tokyo.
